      Back in 2008, I began thinking about setting up a writing group, this thought grew and I became co founder of Greenacre Writers Why Because I d finished an MA in Writing and I missed talking to other writers Since then, I ve written several short stories and flash fiction pieces which have been long short listed in competitions Spilling Ink The New Writer Flash 500 The Yellow Room and The Word Hut My writing has been published in York Tales, Mslexia, Greenacre Writers Anthology Vol 1 2 and non fiction in Greenacre Times More recently I edited and contributed to Friern Barnet Library Occupied and Opened All over the UK public libraries have been closed, the fight to save them continues What happens when a council closes a library against the wishes of the community they serve This book tries to answer that question and looks in particular at the period of occupation.Putting this book together has been a fantastic experience How do you take 20 campaigners with totally different writing styles, and put them together in one book My answer would be 50 50 vision and trust I wanted the book to represent the community spirit that went into saving the library and I trusted that it would all work out okay It has I ve also written a novel the one we leave in the bottom drawer and an autobiography The autobiography looks at my experiences in the care system I m now experimenting with that autobiography and turning it into an autofiction This goes back to the mid 1970s when I was leaving the care system I was 16 The narrative journey uses fiction to explore how reading fiction saved my sanity.
